We’ll be getting started on quilts/projects starting the April meeting.
We’re gearing up for The Creative Stitches Show, Mar 23-24 at Tradex!
This is a great opportunity to show our best modern quilts and invite new members to join our guild!

Lysa has a tentative time schedule for those who expressed interest in manning our booth at the show. We’ll have it at the March meeting & will ask those on the list to confirm that they can attend at the time allotted to them or make any changes needed.
Anyone who signed up but is not at the March meeting will be followed up with by email, and any further arrangements will be done over group email as well. We will coordinate how to get our exhibitor passes to those who are volunteering shortly after the meeting.

We’ll also be displaying some of our guild’s quilts at the show! If you have a modern quilt that you have made and would like to have at th eshow, please bring it to the March Meeting. We can’t guarantee that everyone’s work will be shown but we’ll do our best and ensure that all quilts are stored and shown safely.
We’re very excited to be part of such an awesome show!

Also, our meetup with the VMQG is scheduled for Saturday, Mar. 24, starting at 2pm in the Tulip Room at Tradex.
We’ll have a show & tell to start off so feel free to bring something to show, and then we’ll swap our mug rugs!
If you’d like to participate, swap details are:
- make a mug rug using “Improv” piecing – not using a regular pattern- (for inspiration head over to flickr.com or google.com and search for Improv quilts)
- mug rug must be bigger than a coaster and smaller than a placemat
- must have finished edges
- must be a quilt sandwich consisting of a top, batting, and back
- also we are encouraging you to label your mugrug so the recipients know who made them.
The rest is up to you!

We’ll be swapping in person by random draw, participation in the swap is optional.
If you cannot attend the meetup but would like to swap, bring your mugrug to March meeting and it can be swapped for you and your new mugrug brought to you at the April FVMQG meeting.

- The “What is lurking in the back of the quilt closet?” challenge- this will be a special second scaaaary show & tell- ooooh ahhhhh boooo!
We thought a fun October Hallowe’eny and quilty challenge of sorts would be to bring in your old and out-dated, your scary, your “What was I thinking?!”, either completed quilts or UFO’s (UnFinished Objects) and share a scary tale about it. Did you make it but then not like it? Use an ugly fabric or colour you didn’t like? It didn’t turn out how you’d envisioned? Dig out those gems from the dark depths of your sewing closet and show ‘em off! If you don’t have an actual piece to show, you can share a tale of the scariest quilt you ever made. We want to hear all the gory details!
We want to hear from you:
When did you make it?
What did you learn from it?
How has your work changed from then til now?
