December 8 meeting will be the Christmas party.

January 12 meeting will be the destash. Start going through your stash of fabrics, yarn etc for anything that you would like to pass along. Bring along any quilting and crafting supplies that you want to give away. Please bag scraps! We will have tables set up to put everything out on as you arrive at the meeting. At a specific time, everyone gets to look through and take home anything they’d like. Leftovers will go to the thrift store. Any dirty unusable items will be discarded.

In May we will be having a workshop with Paul Krampitz from Vancouver Modern Quilt Guild – he is doing is Wedge Circle Quilt Workshop. If you went to the Vancouver Modern Show earlier this year, you would have seen this quilt on display.

Christmas Party – December 8 – Tracy

  • ‘Crazy Christmas Outfits’. Bling it up and be prepared to model for the rest of us!
  • ‘Strip Poker’. Bring 7 – 2.5 inch by width of fabric strips – any fabric will work, doesn’t have to be Christmas but better if it’s modern. More info about how we play at the meeting.

Christmas swap: a blind swap of Christmas themed mug rugs and hot pads. Minimum size 8 inches, maximum 10 inches. These do not have to be square! Bring it wrapped and labelled with your name so the recipient will know where it came from.

Creative Stitches Show – Phyllis
If you are entering the challenge, register your quilt with Phyllis tonight. We’ll need the size for planning purposes.
If you have a good slogan for the new pins, we’ll also need that tonight. These pins will be given away at the booth. We have a prize for the best slogan.

Membership Update- Barb
33 members and 3 guests tonight – welcome!

Community Quilts – Jean
We have a small committee – speak to Jean if you’d like to get involved. Right now, we are looking into options for recipients. Participation will be strictly voluntary – there is absolutely no expectation.
Canadian Quilt Association is organizing a giant quilting bee – we are hoping to sew-in in January to put some blocks together for this. Recipient will be Ronald McDonald House.

Batik Baskets Demo – Lois Kelly
Lois talked about how she got into making her baskets, bags, and sun hats and passed around a handout on how to get started.
