Firstly, my apologies for posting this so very late! Holiday crazy crafting has been setting in around these parts. How about you, have you got your many Christmas projects underway yet? wink wink..
We had a great meeting in October! You can view a slideshow of all the photos here, big thanks to Carol Browne for being our fab photographer every month, and donating her services to us! :
A quick recap-
- Partners were assigned for our now in-progress Potholder swap with the Vancouver MQG. All participants *must* have their packages finished and sent to their partners in the VMQG by end of November. Please let Eryn know asap if you find you cannot complete your potholders so she can find a replacement.
You can post photos in the FV/VMQG swap flickr group here:

All swaps and challenges are optional participation, though the more people we have join in the fun, the better!
Big thanks to Eryn for coordinating the swaps and handling all of the nitty gritty details!
The Kona Solids Charm packs challenge came to completion and everyone’s creations were simply amazing and inspiring, and all so different- we have such a talented group! Check out the fantastic quilts below!

After a break, our extremely talented and knowlegable Ellen presented a demo on binding tips and tricks, and shows us some great and helpful tips on sewing corners, sewing long strips togther with angled(instead of straight) seams, and gave some great hints on good widths for binding, sewing on curved edges and finishing.
Big thank you to Ellen for sharing such a great demo and sharing with us!
And in the spirit of Hallowe’en, we shared some extra scaaaary quilts we dug out from the depths of our quilty closets. You know the ones- the unfinished, old and polyester-y, dated, tired, and just plain scary! It proved to be great fun and a lot of laughs!
We’d also like to thank our team of volunteers who are helping us build an organized and fun group and helping coordinate our monthly meetings, swaps, events, and retreats: Sherri, Kat P, Charline, Eryn, Ellen, and everyone for being a member of our group- we seem to be finding our “groove” don’t we?
See you…. tonight!
Cynthia & Lysa
