We had a great meeting in July! Following our fabulous summer workshops first with “Fearless Freemotion” with Shelley & Bernie of Little Oak Pattern Co.in late June and “House Top Quilts” with Barb Mortell in early July, we had lots of goodies to share!
You can check out the meeting photos in the slideshow below,
After our show & tell, Amy gave a great presentation on labelling your quilts.
The reasons to label your quilt, Who is it for, What is it for, When was it made, Where was it made, and Why/what occasion was it made for, are some of the things you can include on your quilt label so future generations will know who and where it came from.
Some great ideas for making labels, including embroidery by hand or machine, writing in Pigma pens, digital printing, and also size and format and how it’s sewn on all make your label unique to your style and quilt.
Big thanks to Amy for sharing such great information with us, and I promise I’ll be labelling all of my quilts from now on!
Also coming up on Saturday, September 29, we have another fantastic workshop coming up with Sonja Callahan of Artisania, and she will be teaching us all about paper piecing. The cost is $40, and it includes 2 patterns & instructions, and by the end you will have a finished tote bag with your newly paper pieced blocks on the sides. If you’re interested in signing up, contact us! ( mods (at) fvmodernquilt (dot) com ) registration is open to all FVMQG, VMQG, and area guilds and their friends, on a first come first-served basis. It will be loads of fun and we’re looking forward to having Sonja share her amazing skills with us!
Stay tuned for August’s meeting, Thursday August 9, and our 2nd anniversary party in September! Big thanks to all of our members for making our guild such a happy and inspiring place!
