Helen, our president, opened the meeting at 7 pm.
Quiltcon – Helen
Lysa, one of our founding members, has had her ‘Say Anything’ quilt accepted for display at Quiltcon. This is the annual convention of the Modern Quilt Guild. They are very selective about what is chosen for display. Quiltcon offers classes, displays, and a quilt show every year. This year it’s in Savannah, Georgia. Lysa has posted a photo of ‘Say Anything’ to the guild Facebook page.
Community Quilts – Jean
Thanks to everyone who turned in their blocks for the Big Canadian Quilt Bee. We sewed together Jan 21 at University of the Fraser Valley to make more. Any style of block was welcome – modern or traditional – they will all be used.
Canadian Quilters Association needs a volunteer in the Fraser Valley to gather the quilts from the Bee and deliver then after the show which is late this summer. Please speak to Jean if you can help (someone has volunteered – thank you!).

36 members in attendance tonight with one guest – Stacey.
Swaps & Challenges – Jean
We are working on setting up a swap with another modern guild. We are also starting a challenge for unfinished projects. Jean will set up a Facebook page for people to post photos as their challenge entries. You will have 3 months to finish. Every project you finish will be one entry into the prize draw.
Creative Festival – Courtney
We will need final sizes of your show quilts for the February 9 meeting. Please have the flimsy done by Feb 9 and we will ask you to post a photo and the size. We will collect the finished quilts at the March 9 meeting. The February meeting will focus on Creative Festival scheduling and volunteer sign up. If you are putting a quilt into the display, you will be expected to volunteer for at least one shift at the show. Plus volunteers get in free.
Show & Tell
We really encourage our guild members to bring their projects, finished or not, to share at Show & Tell. It’s a great way to ask for feedback or help if you are stuck on something. The positive atmosphere at the meetings makes it easy to share and we all draw inspiration from each other! We want to see what you are doing!
An amazing variety of fabric destashed this year. Everyone went home with something new and fun – we look forward to seeing your projects!
